Redmond School of Dance, owned and operated by Mary Silva, opened its doors in the Fall of 1989. The studio begins its 23rd year in its 5,000 square foot facility. There are two dance studios, each constructed with a floating sub-floor, overlaid in a dance vinyl material. In addition, there is an ample lobby area, boys and girls dressing rooms, and a Dancewear Boutique supplying all your dance clothing and shoe needs.

The school provides quality dance education for the pre professional student as well as for the recreational dancer to all ages. Emphasis is placed on the study of Classical Ballet and all students, including Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap students, are encouraged to strengthen their technique by taking ballet lessons. The studio's ballet curriculum is based on the Russian Vaganova method.

In children younger than 8, it is most important that they learn about the joyfulness and playfulness of dance. Our Pre Dance classes offer a fun and exciting program, while building a solid foundation for later, more serious study of dance. These classes teach children about body awareness, spatial and musical awareness, as well as class room etiquette (how to work with others), and basic motor skills.
Dance is a performing art and we encourage students to participate in as many performances as possible. In December, Ballet students perform in the school's annual 'A High Desert Nutcracker', an updated, Central Oregon version of the the traditional Nutcracker. Students perform in an annual end of the year Recital which includes all dance classes, and has in the past included the full length Ballets of Cinderella, Coppelia, Swan Lake, La Fille Mal Gardee, and The Sleeping Beauty. This has become quite a cultural event for the city of Redmond. In addition, select students may perform for community events throughout the year, including Deschutes County and Central Oregon Dance Showcase. Dance Teams compete at New York City Dance Alliance.
